I completed my first walking half marathon (13.1 miles 3:34), the Silicon Valley Marathon, in October of 2007. Completing this half marathon was so exciting and I soon began to wonder if I could do longer distances.
I got bit by the "walking bug" and signed up for my first 30K
trail race in Death Valley's Titus Canyon in February 2008.
This race
is designed to be a running race, however, I walked
the race
and completed it in 4:54. Surprisingly, I also won 3rd place in my age
group for this event. How exciting and I did it walking!!
Death Valley 30 K Finish 4:53.38
The curiosity of distance is still there and I am planning my next
walking event to be the Tahoe 20 miler. My ultimate goal is to walk a
marathon. I am training slowly and steadily to achieve this goal.
